Having an overseas experience can be a life-changing event. In some cases, it can determine what you study in college, where you work, or how to spend your vacations.

I lived in Ecuador for one year immediately following high school, and studied for one semester in Spain during my junior year of college. Both experiences offered unique opportunities for reflection and growth.

My time abroad not only opened my eyes to the respective host cultures, but I additionally had the chance to meet and interact with people from around the world. I believe my two overseas experiences helped to pave the path that led me to Marietta College’s Office of International Programs.

My hope is that every Marietta College student will seize the opportunity to reach out to another culture and go beyond his or her comfort zone. Studying abroad not only introduces you to another culture, but in many ways, you return home with a newfound understanding for your own background and traditions.
