About Marietta College Marietta College is an independent, selective, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college of 1,300 students located in the historic river city of Marietta, Ohio. Marietta College, a contemporary liberal arts college in southeast Ohio, is seeking applications for the position of Director of the Library. The Dawes Memorial Library, http://library.marietta.edu , holds more than a quarter million volumes and non-book library materials. In addition, Special Collections include rare 15 th through 20 th century Americana books and manuscripts, and a unique collection of manuscripts pertaining to the Old Northwest Territory, including the records of the Ohio Company of Associates whose members founded the first organized American settlement in the Old Northwest Territory at Marietta in 1788. The Dawes Library is a wireless zone, uses an Innovative Interfaces Library Management System and offers an array of services through electronic resources. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Library Director manages the operation of the library; supervises a staff of three professionals and six paraprofessionals; provides leadership in planning, maintaining and evaluating collection development, library services, instructional programs; ensures collaboration with students, faculty, administration, instructional technology staff, and consortia and regional colleagues; and participates in curriculum and program development. The College is in the first stages of planning a library building expansion and this requires that the Director be eager to foster innovation and be familiar with the technologies appropriate to a 21 st century academic library. An MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program, with an additional advanced degree relevant to the College's mission preferred. The candidate should have a minimum of three years' administrative experience in an academic library or related experience, including planning and managing a budget. The successful candidate will be given faculty rank at a level appropriate to academic credentials and experience. Marietta College seeks qualified applicants to fill a full-time position of Programmer/Analyst. Job responsibilities include: designing, coding, documenting, and testing new and existing programs; consulting with department users to determine requirements; and providing support to resolve complex problems. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or a combination of relevant college course work/training and programming experience. On-the-job programming experience with several of the following is also required: C+/C++/C#, Java, ODBC, SQL, and PERL. Experience with UniData and UniBasic is a plus.
